Therapy that meets your needs
My name is Ame Bora (pronounced Amy, she/they pronouns) and I provide a non-judgmental, supportive yet gentle and direct approach. As an LCSW with over 10 years of experience, I am trained in gestalt therapy, with a focus on somatic experiencing. I enjoy working creatively and combining both holistic and practical/evidence-informed schools of therapy to help you. I specialize in working with bi-poc, Asian Americans, second-generation individuals, working professionals, and creatives. My focus areas include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life transitions, career, identity, spirituality, intergenerational trauma, and cultural issues. Based on my personal and professional lived experiences as a woman of color, I believe it is essential to come from a place of cross-cultural humility in understanding others in both life and in my practice.
About my approach
Gestalt is a humanistic, integrative and person-centered form of psychotherapy focusing on the present moment and restoring the individual to their whole self. Somatics is the practice of processing sensations that arise in your body from an experience and making meaning of it. As a second generation South Asian American, I have learned to absorb western schools of thought and training I have received and reframe it to how it would apply for different communities.
